It's an octave lower because he doesn't play it on a bass, he plays it on a synth. You could use an octave pedal, but they're kind of expensive and it's easier to use a keyboard. Alternatively, you could tune the E string down to C and play it on a four-string bass. If you tune down, the riff goes like this: G|------------------ D|------------------ A|----------------5- C|-0---7-4--11-7----

Basically alright I'd say but I am pretty sure this is an octave lower though I suppose you could use an effect... oh and that 5 on the G-string should be 4 and the 7 comes in every time in the verse. Also there is a slightly different part in the chorus ("you're all I need...") and the last part of the song is quite different i think.
