(fingerpicking)
Oh wake me please when this is over
Oh when the ice has melted away
and the hunger returns
I will be the same but older
and maybe twice the man that I thought I was
G D
Where have you been?
Em D C
And what have you done?
D G
I've been under the ground
D Em D C
Reading prayers from this old book I found
D G
Under the ground
Cmaj7 Em
Saving it up
D C
And spending it all
D
On moving pictures
(fingerpicking)
And silent films
moving pictures
And silent films
oh is this the dream I've been saving
oh where the heart beats slower and slower
to almost nothing
almost nothing
almost nothing
G D
I took it for love,
Em D C
or at least something beautiful
D G
out there in the spotlight
Cmaj7 Em D C
I turned around suddenly turned around squinting
D G
and saw that it was headlights
Cmaj7 Em
and in them the truth
D C
the truth was unbearable
D
oh and dimmer than
Cmaj7 Em G C
bearing down on these two shadow animals
D (fingerpicking)
caught painting a dotted line
caught painting a dotted line
caught painting a dotted line
G D
Where have you been?
Em D C
And what have you done?

I've been under the ground

Good effort but you've got the chorus wrong i'm afraid - i'm sure of this since I saw the band last night and paid particular attention to how he played this song because it's one of my favourites. The Chorus actually goes: G D G D C Cmaj7 C D - just repeat that three times at each chorus. He plays the G with the B sting as an open string.
+2

also, I think it should go, on the last three notes of the main riff, 5A 4D 0A, instead of 5A 4D
