The orchestra serves mainly as accompaniment to the solo clarinet which takes off with both themes after brief introductions…or not by the orchestra. Unlike my first Clarinet Concerto, continuous arpeggios, a staple of many clarinet pieces are scarce. The slower middle section has a quasi melodic theme in contrast with the two outer sections which are developed from short motifs.
