This Polonaise "Farewell to the Homeland" was written by Polish composer, diplomat and politician Michal Kleofas Oginski. This grand but heart-wrenching polonaise was composed during the period when Poland ceased to exist and was divided up between neighboring empires, so it was Oginski's emotional farewell to his country. This polonaise is arranged for string quartet.
