*sigh* Can we please show RESPECT for the songwriters by using the correct chords? LISTEN please to the original track or even the Guitar Pro tab here - the actual verse progression is: G---A7add9/C#---C---D. That second chord is in fact key to the sound of the song, and while it looks complex on paper it is in fact ultimately simple in your fingers. It's an A chord with only 2 strings fretted: the A string 4th fret for C# (the 3rd of the chord) as the root (low E string is muted) and D string 2nd fret for the E. The G string (the dominant 7th) and B (the 9th) are left open. Just try it, please. I played this in a trio back when it came out and felt a kind of kinship with the band since I went to college with drummer John Dittrich for a couple years up in Syracuse 50+ years ago. Thanks for putting up my grumpy ol' dude rant...great song.

The second chord (listed here as Em) is actually an Em/C#, which is 000240. Otherwise, it's very good! You can play the Em but the dissonance of the Em/C# seems like the most important hook in the song.
