Published by UNC Jazz Press. NC.644. This arrangement of Bix Beiderbecke's 1927 classic was written for Eddie Daniels and Gary Burton's recorded tribute to Benny Goodman, Benny Rides Again. GRP, 1992. With its impressionistic harmonies, introspective melodies and contrasting rubato and swing-tempo sections, In a Mist becomes in Leonard Feather's words "a mini-concert" for the two solo instruments. Solo vibraphone, solo Bb or C clarinet, piano, acoustic bass and drums. An optional piano part for quartet without vibraphone is included.
