This escapade is a true journey n exciting and full of unanticipated turns. The main, angular theme is developed and interrupted by a reoccurring "rock" motive and a chordal statement by the trombones. The slower middle section explores a second melody that is less angular and more melodic. The two themes eventually appear in simultaneous recapitulation toward the end of the work. Commissioned and dedicated to the United States Air Force Band.
