Soloists. trumpet, trombone, drums Shoulder Room has an up tempo hard swing groove that alternates with a Second Line New Orleans street beat feel in this very contemporary, unpredictable and hard blowing chart. Features trumpet and trombone with modal solos, and drums. Solos have long arcs supported by colorful and contrapuntal background lines that emerge to take over in episodic shout choruses. I wrote this while recovering from shoulder surgery in 2008, and it definitely has its spikey moments. I rate it as an advanced high-energy concert performance work.
