The men join later with the theme and the music is further developed in ever richer harmony and a gradual crescendo to the words, "my heart an altar and Thy love the flame. " The work concludes quietly with a reminiscence of the original theme. This is a challenging yet satisfying work for the more accomplished choir who are experienced in 'a cappella' work.
