Bellini wrote his opera I Capuleti e I Montecchi in 1825. It handles about the traditional story of Giulietta e Romeo. The part of Romeo, the young hero, is sung by a mezzo-soprano 'en travesti', a common practice in opera at this time. In the second scene of the first act Lorenzo brings in secret Romeo to Giulietta who prepares for her marriage with Tebaldo.
