From 1887 until 1889 he studied piano and composition at the Konservatorium of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna. After finishing his studies, Fruhling remained in Vienna as a piano and composition instructor. Among his unpublished works are a Piano Concerto Opus 12, a Fantasie for Flute and Orchestra Opus 55, orchestral works and a Mass opus 6. also a Serenade for Piano Opus 11, a Piano Quintet Opus 30, numerous songs and piano pieces and a -ballet-pantomime.
